I’ve always been very experimental with my work, combining different materials and exploring the use of different techniques. I have never though that graphic design had to be done with sole use of computer programmes, because of this I have experiments with three dimensional work, stitching and print making.
With the first five images I had to reinvent the objects (potato, pegs, sock) to create a new idea or concept. With the pegs I created two stop frame animations because I haven’t done this before. The first was creating a wig from pegs while the other was more complicated because I had wanted the movement of the pegs to reflect how I visually saw the music. The enlarged peg pictures influenced my mock movie poster of a potato, taking inspiration from 1950’s horror movie posters. The monster theme for both those items were playful, as a reaction to this I wanted to create images that were very disturbing with the sock.

With the stencil projections I wanted to create lettering on objects without the use of a computer. I simply created a stencil, placed a light behind it, creating a print on an items.
With the “Sleep” piece I wanted to create a very soft and dreamy reflection of the word, stitch was the best method to show this. The loose thread adds to the soft imagery that gently fades away.
With my other typographical piece I wanted to explore the effects of manipulating the piece, not on a computer, but with the physical piece. The dynamics of the piece changes because there are areas of that are hidden, this creates a new layout.
